Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results under its own policy. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact message as needed to respond and maintain the exchange. It stays within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical details when a visitor loads a page:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Shelby County court dockets or personal case information. We publish general directions to the Circuit Clerk of Shelby County, Circuit and District Courts, municipal and probate custodians, and Alabama case-information channels. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern submitted data, including retention and disclosure practices we do not control. Review the applicable provider policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to clerk pages, court portals, statewide systems, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal data.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to follow activity across sites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be disclosed to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect the information we collect. No internet system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If a minor has supplied data, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights beyond this policy. Alabama court-file access is separately governed by Alabama Rule of Judicial Administration 16 and, subject to judicial rules and exceptions, Alabama Code ยง 36-12-40. Those authorities do not turn this private site's visitor data into an official court record. You may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy as our services or legal duties change. The updated text and its new effective date will appear here.
